My 2x48" Belt Grinder - its a beast! — The Practical Engineer

Beefy motor. Simple to build. Usable for various materials. Having a list like this gives me a starting point for the design process. The small footprint made me decide to go with a 2x48" belt design and the wish for a beefy motor and suitable for various material made me decide to go with a 3 phase motor on a VFD.

As for VFD size you need to know the motor size that you are going to connect to it. My advice is to get the 3ph motor and VFD. As far as wiring it you will need 220volt single phase to power the VFD, which in turn converts it to 3 phase 220. The VFD has instructions on wiring and the motor will have a connection diagram.
