The motor has plenty of torque for my needs and no gears to break. The fixed column is sturdier that the tilt column. The included tooling package is a nice start as well.

My first mill was a Little Machine Shop Hi-Torque 3900 mini mill, purchased second hand. The LMS ones seem to be better equipped than the same manufacturer sold elsewhere under different names. For example the LMS one has a larger table and is fitted with a belt drive instead of the plastic gear drive that I have heard is a failure point.
