Grinding an 8″ F/10 Telpe Mirror. For this project (my first time ever grinding a mirror) I ordered an 8″ Black Vitrified Ceramic (BVC) blank without a pregenerated curve from ASM Products in Ste-Basile PQ. Ordering from Canada is always cheaper once you factor in all the taxes – all told the kit cost about $185.
Here is a 25 inch mirror on top of the fine grinding tool with pads applied. And here is the result after 5 hrs of machine polishing starting from a 20 micron aluminum oxide grind. Note that the edge is not as reflective.

Grinding the secondary is just like grinding any other optic except in minature. I ground the secondary with the workstand and worked the tool on top just like I would grind a larger mirror. This optic is small enough that a lens grinding machine could work well.
